GRS transit 5 May

Usual settings for the Toucam.
This shot taken with Baader UV-IR filter
Deconvolution in Astra Image.
2.5 powermate.
seeing 5/10.

Despite the above seeing; some nice white spots can be seen in all belts.

Anyway it is a little grainy but when I used a filter on it I lost a little sharpness. Also some detail in the GRS visible. Might try to reprocess this later.

Comments welcome.

The GRS looks really nice, some great detail inside.

I went out and had a look, made sure my DSC's were still working for this weekend, but a blanket of high cirrus cloud meant imaging wouldn't have worked (gain would've had to be too high), but visually it was still a treat. The air was nice and steady.

Great shot Paul.

Ok did a reprocess of this shot and got the one below, this one has less grain in the shot but is a little dimmer and not quite as sharp. Personally I think that these are the best I have produced this season.

What do you all think? Would like to know what others think.

Incidently, the compression that I am using is affecting the image quality, so the original seems to be a little sharper. You might like to sit back a little, around two feet from the screen to see the image at its best.

I like the first one..

If you crop out the black from your image and make the overall size smaller, you shouldn't need any compression.

From registax I save as TIFF and BMP, then the TIFF can go into photoshop and the BMP into AstraImage. When you do a "save for web" in photoshop even at 100% quality, it ends up usually < 20k for such a small image.
