Old 80mm Objective wanted

Anybody got one after an apograde laying around unloved and unwanted? Got a tube going spare and thought I'd use it. Cell would need to be the collimatable type rather than the earlier (which I already have).

Let me know...

I am often tempted to cut up my 80mm binos to see if the "triplets" there in could be used to replace the doublet in my 80 scope.. if I do, and I could it is still wet here.. the old one I would love to see in a good home. With the upgrade kits something must turn up.

Well, Alex, my Vixen bins are safe from that sort of thing after the Lunar eclipse - just awesome views As you say - with the all those apograde kits around *someone* must have one

I've got the tube here waiting and will have to run off a focuser once I get the FL of the objective.

Hi Centauri

It's not the apo cell I'm after here thanks - just the boring old SD one! I made the 102mm carbon fibre APM but not completely myself, this time I want to do it all so currently don't think it's worth splashing out on the big pennies just yet.

Hey Arther I like your I will turn out a focuser approach that is neat.
AND Centaruri I had a look around Andrews but could no see anything, that just means I probably missed it, but can you tell me any more about what they offer or point me in the right direction..I would ring but they will be closed and your information that they may have one will see me awake all night wondering what they cost and the F/L. Sounds very interesting and a better approach than cutting up some good binos with no promise of success.

Alex - it's in the William Optics section of the website, bottom of the page, first section of the lists rather than pics bit... under spotting scopes.

Not a bad price - certainly much cheaper than in the UK but WO will sell them direct for US$400 for the cell only or about US$440 for the cell, extension and 10:1 focus upgrade
