M61 with supernova

Having just reviewed Mike & Trish's fabulous M61 image I feel somewhat apologetic for posting my effort from last night, but I will anyway. I was pleased to capture the supernova in non-ideal conditions.

I managed just 25 minutes of exposure, and after I decided to pack up I discovered a heavy layer of dew on the correcting lens on my M14 SCT. All the subs registered in PI, so I used them anyway. Apart from that, the seeing wasn't all that great to the North, plus I was peering through crud over the Latrobe Valley.

Cheers, Chris

There it is for all to see, uncontroversially there! A great result for 25 minutes at the helm. Would be good to get an "after", perhaps next year.

Thanks David & MnT - always good to get something for the efforts. Truth be known, I spent a lot longer learning few new things in PI than I did in the observatory. Cheers, Chris
