Hi all,
Took this image over a few nights through the cloud breaks.
Still working out best settings for guiding.
Sort of happy but having trouble getting colour right.
Still trying to learn APP so I still had to do final stretching in Photoshop.
60 X 5 mins lights ( 5 Hours )
Darks, Flats, Bias subtracted
Stacked and processed in APP

Really nice image Andy. Well done. I’d imagine the full size would be really nice to zoom in and pan around on. It’s a really nice FOV to give the Tarantula a frame of reference. I like the subtlety of the colour too. Nice work

Great effort through the clouds , well framed and captured
I agree colour is a bit flat , this neb is a huge Hll region so there’s plenty to extract
With your PHD2 guiding have you tried the PEC algorithm instead of hysteresis , I’ve used it on my HEQ5 with some success. The only issue is that it takes a bit of time to run through its cycle plus you can’t gauge immediately on performance you have to wait a while ( it does chew valuable imaging time )
Maybe give it a go if you haven’t already
Martin
Thanks Alan, Ryan, Martin, and Tony.
Ive been pretty busy lately so very little time to work on astro let alone reply back to all your positive comments.
You all do outstanding images and always have time to give input on other imagers which i have been very slack lately.
Martin , I will try the PHD2 thing next time the clouds open up. I bought the mount and it alredy had the PEC done and ive never done it again. Because im using EQ mod then no PEC is being used so I should give it a go.
I tried 1 hour of Ha but there was so much cloud and mist it made the image worse.
Thanks again everyone for your positive input and I will get around to commenting on all your outstanding images you keep putting up.
Nearly finished a big job so after that I have no work and time to isolate so maybe i'll have more time for astro.
Cheers
Andy
