Aussie Music Icon is no longer with us

Billy Thorpe died last night from a heart attack. I only just seen him last year in concert. While at the scope with the radio on I do enjoy mutilating a song or two, his was some that i did enjoy murmuring along with at the scope. My wife agrees "most people I know think that I an crazy".....

Another Aussie great gone! The people who made the music I grew up with seem to be slowly dissappearing. A sad fact of life. We're lucky his (and others like him) music will live on.

RIP Billy Thorpe.

That's sad news. Another great personality (and a great muso and entertainer) gone. At least his music will live on!

Al.

Yep, sad day indeed, I feel as though I've lost a personal friend. I've seen Thorpey perform many times over the years, he was a great entertainer.

RIP Billy.

A sad loss to the music industry.
I still remember the Sunbury Concerts in the Seventies with Thorpey and Lobby Lloyd taking top billing. It seems like it was only yesterday.

RIP Billy.

Sad news, indeed.

He was always such a vibrant kind of bloke and had a real streak of larikin about him.

He'll be missed

Chris,
It's moments like these that make you realize to live life to the fullest, and to put in more than you take out.

Sad. I pulled out my vinyl single of "Most People.." and sat and looked at it for a while this morning.

I'll take the Sunbury DVD (real cheap at JB HiFi) into work tomorrow and we'll have a tribute to Billy.

A great Aussie musician is lost, I have enjoyed many of his concerts and got to meet him a couple of times as well through other mates who are muso's.
I heard that he had another album due to come out soon as well.

We'll miss ya Billy

I have always found it interesting that the song he will be remembered for by far the most (sung by all and sundry sinners alike/bikers ect.) 'most people i know' is about people thinkin he is crazy for becoming a 'born again' christian! - read the lyrics I have always admired him for pulling that one off! amazing! how did he do that? made it cool!? lol
vale Billie - well he's got some good company up there - james brown from xmas - that was a biggie - thanks for the good times
yes their getting on now the pantheon of rock gods - the one that freaks me out for some weird reason? is that Ronnie Wood has emphysema (amongst other things) when the eternal youth touchtone the rolling stones start being mortal, that does not bode well for the rest of them methinks

Last entry in Thorpie's biography on his website:-

"Hope to see you at gig or two. I've included a few photos from different events and will flesh them out as the weeks go by. So stay tuned."

Be nice to one another.

Thorpie."

That is very sad news. Jac, an ex-employee of mine (and still a friend) has Billy as one of his best mates. I know that Jac will be devistated. They all went thru the 60's together at the top of their profession and have remained close.

Another sad loss to Australias music greats.
