Bush Fires

Check out the the number of fires on the fire map...who is lighting them...didnt they notice the Westerlies or does that old mentality of some bushy folk still exist.."you need a good wind for a burn off".

The sky in Casino and Lismore is filled with smoke...heck yesterday the dog got blown off the chain...as my old fire captain would say on his address to new recruits.."there are only three things that start a fire..man, woman and children.

How are things where you are?

We had burning off 10 days ago (spoiling an otherwise beautifully clear calm weekend).

The last 3 days have been brass-monkey weather - Blackheath had 50mm snow and also some in Katoomba. Very very windy the whole time, but extremely clear apart from Saturday night. Could see the sandstone cliffs in the blue mountains from the northern suburbs of Ssydney.

And 6 degrees this morning... haven't see that in a while.

It’s really dry down here in the south coast , I think the RFS in our region are waiting for the westerly winds to abate before they back burn again, should see some smoke haze again soon
Had some light rain night but barely wet the ground
Wednesday night is clear but full moon , so I’ve put up some moon deflectors to Image some clusters , then cloudy for a couple of days after that
Heading back to Sydney on Thursday

Nothing much going on in our area this week thankfully, at least until I have a burn off on Saturday (Conditions permitting)

The owner of the place next door has a habit of lighting burn off fires underneath the canopy of trees then going home. At least nowadays there are tenants in the place of an age that means they can manage them when he leaves, he used to leave up to a dozen fires burning spread over the whole 44 acres and go home with his 80 year old mum the only one on the place.
