Another Cyclic Universe Theory

In today's news @ nature is this theory of a cyclic universe that obeys the second law of thermodynamics:

Now onto the new Universe idea . I find it curious that they need such explanations but am happy they are looking . If we find another explaination for the expansion we think we observe that leads us back to a static Universe or rather one without a start or finish we would not need such fantasitic extrapolations to explain what may be an observational problem. Is the Universe really expanding as to fit so many of these ideas together the razor will have a field day .
Sorry Al thanks for posting but I was raving elsewhere and it sortta flowed on here .
Interesting anyways very interesting .

The amusing part of this to me is the universe being "reset" and split almost instantaneously...

It reminds me of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy... the answer to the ultimate question of life the universe and everything (42) and the actual question are mutually exclusive... so if both are known at the same time, the universe is instantly replaced with something even more bizarre...

Douglas may have been more insightful than people gave him credit for!

I think there was a message in his number thing, maybe more than one message .
The complexity of most things somewhat prevents casual srutiny and in that environment then some wild ideas can flourish. As much as we think we may know it all... I find it difficult to believe anyone really knows or can ever hope to know. It is wonderful we can however speculate as we do
(..er they do,.. as you know Al my feet are well set in many Universes so according to string theory I must be right somewhere as must others who speculate on possibilities.. mmm some warn milk and a lie down for me).
The requirements of inflation and the requirements of the Universe attracting publicity in respect of the big rip.. are to me beyond my understanding and therefore acceptance.. that does not mean anything other than thats the way it is with me.
Still 42 is a product of 6 and 7..now there are 7 days in the week and a circle can be divided into 6 equal parts, taking 7 days we find that if we then take the number of planets thought to be out there we find taking every second number we get..42 he is right no question about it..its getting clearer already.
