I love waking up Early !

While waking up an hour before the morning alarm might annoy some, for this happy little astronomer it is a bonus !
Enough time for some morning exersize, then wheel the dob out for some early morning views of Jupiter & the 26ish day old moon.
With the still morning air the finer points of Jupiter's banding & spots jump into view.
On the moon the view of Achistarus & Schroters valley in breathtaking, with it being clearly lit on one side of the valley & in shadow on the other !
It would be so good to talk a moonwalk along this huge valley
(Attached photo is one taken some time ago)
The region around Schickard is also very interesting with its intersecting craters & craterlets.
A great start to the day

Yep, it was nice this morning to look out and see the moon with the clouds clearing. Not that I am complaining about the beautiful rain we have had lately but its nice to see the moon

Vingboy, It's easier if you stay up all night, then you don't have to get out of bed.

NIce report Ian.

I'm up on the Highlands, near Mittagong. Clear night last night. Lovely viewing. So I bounced up briefly at 4:30 to see the crescent moon and the "Emu" which I hadn't seen before. I'll spend more time one of the next mornings with the 20x80s I've brought with me. Sleep? Who needs it!
