CDC help please

I use cdc on Win 7 pro for telescope pointing and want to install the Barnard catalog.
I have downloaded Barnard.zip, unpacked it and put the contents into a directory "barnard" I created in

...\Ciel\cat\

I set the catalog (deep sky objects) in CDC to point at this directory .

The find option does not find "b 33".

Needless to say this all works well on my Linux desktop!

Would someone please tell me how to install the catalog for Windows CDC.

Chris,
Sounds like you’ve done the correct installation.
Do the Barnard objects appear in the displayed maps?
Is there an index file with the catalogue?

Ken,
The unpacked files are
Barnard.cds
barnard.dat
ReadMe

The readme file is singularly unhelpful

Doesn't feel like a CdC catalogue format...
I couldn't find the Barnard catalogue in the CdC webpage (https://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/download) but Martin Schoenball has a Lynds Dark Nebulae catalogue - contains the Barnard objects)
http://www.schoenball.de/astronomie/cdc/cdc_en.htm
This has the necessary search index...
Screen shot of b32 (no space between B and number).....
Hope this helps.

I also couldn't find a "Barnard.zip" anywhere, but I did find this .tgz version:

https://osdn.net/projects/sfnet_skyc...g_barnard.tgz/

There is a header b.hdr, index b.ixr, and .dat files inside. As merlin66 suggests, your "barnard.zip" is not in the right format.

Copy the unarchived "barnard" folder that's inside into the cat directory, then add it with the Setup > Catalog > Catalog menu. Click on the folder after the path. Navigate to b.hdr and open it. Turn on the bullet to green. Click Apply, OK.

Turn off the SAC because there's another B33 in that catalogue.

Tested in Win7 x32 with version 4.0-3575.

Thanks for the replies, I tried both Ken's and Stutekh's suggestions, to no avail.

So as I seem to be as thick as two short planks I probably need an idiot's guide.

Chris,
Let’s see if we can help.
I assume you downloaded the Ldn.zip file from Martins site...
Unzip this to a folder in the ceil/ cat folder.
Open it and double check the header and data is in the folder....
If all is well you’re 99% the way there...
In CdC follow the process outlined by M below and get it recognised and select - the green icon shows success....

Chris,
Which version of CdC are you using?
I’m on V4 which is much faster and generally much better.

It's worth upgrading to a more recent version...
I'm on V4.1.1 beta 3763.
