Took this on Friday 19th, up at IISAC2007 on top of the mountain

1 exposure, flash used, Canon 350D + 75-300mm lens. Not quite enough DOF to get Rod in sharp focus, I was too close to him

I think he sent this image around his office

Reminds me of the Hindu creation story, where the God Vishnu incarnates as a giant turtle supporting the world.

And no, I'm not saying there are any similarities between Rod and a turtle...

PS – Careful Mike – in 1000’s of year’s time, your photo, which may be all that is left of our civilization, may be discovered and construed as proof that we were a race of giants that could reach up into the heavens and pluck comets from their orbits….

I had a similar idea - photos coming once I scan the slides at higher resolution. Yes, hard to get comet and foreground in sharp focus and well exposed when one's lens is wide open!

Comet McCaught!

It kept swirling in the air.....you know how it is...very hard to catch with the stars in your eyes....but with soft hands I would have caught it had it not changed course suddenly at the end, and headed behind the far hill.

As it was so well recieved maybe the 'moon' shot should have been done..
