what do I do with avi files

Well, I have for the first time, managed to get an image of Moon with my ZWO 224 camera. I used SharpCap and got 1000 frames (that's what it told me) in AVI format. They are saved to my hard drive and I don't know what to do next. I googled all sorts of questions and even read the sharpcap manual, but no luck. There didn't seem to be anything in Schapcap about what to do. Then I opened DSS and tried to load the avi file, but nothing happened. How do I turn my 1000 frames of Mr Moonie into a printable file? I can run the AVI file ok but it is just a wobbly movie of the moon. HELP!

I normally using PIPP to process the file, then Registax for stacking and wavelets processing.

The software mostly recommended these days for planetary image stacking is Autostakkert. Download it for free. There are lots of tutorials covering it's use. Some people then take the finished image, transfer it to Registax, and do their sharpening in that. Photoshop is useful too for final tweaking of colour balance, contrast, noise control.

if the moon is a full circle inside the frame, run it through PIPP first, centering object and outputting bmp files. load these into autostakkert. if surface closeup of moon just load into autostakkert to process. it can take care of sharpening much easier than registax.
