Gday a M42 pic with the ED80/D70 combo and a wider one of the Orion constellation {damn didn't frame Betelguese well }.Tried some diffraction spikes in PS for some effect, dont know if its overpowering or not

Wow Stuart, they're great! Both nice black skies.

Love the widefield and the closeup.

The diffraction spikes aren't overpowering, however I don't think they look as good as "naturally" produced ones via a spider vein or fishing line.

Great images.

Nicely done Stuart Good to see you getting into some more imaging. You've been pretty quiet over there for a while. I thought that lovely wife of yours might have sold off all your equipment on you

Thanks very much
PS:Houghy the nikon 18-70 DXED
PSS: Ving tried a number of exposure times ranging from 60-140s to try some mask processing in PS SC2 to stop the core of M42 getting blown out , real juggling act
