Eat me!

Here ya go - my first image in over a year, using new scope (Esprit 80ED at f/5). Canon 5D Mk II (not modded). Vixen Sphinx mount, unguided. Manually focused with a Bahtinov using Live View to actually see the pattern. Image is straight out of stacking with NIL post-processing a whole bunch of 10 sec subs (Sum integration) for a grand total of...wait for it...

18 minutes of total exposure

Glad you like it lol.

Now, I have to say this preliminary scope test using a DSLR and not guided delights me - the colour seems good, the contrast good, the sharpness good.

Yes, my CLP filter is on it's way - give me a break, I live 500 meters from Canberra Airport so my sky is...rather....polluted I am not going NB again...no...no....maybe...

So, as the song says, Things...can only get better...

EDIT: scared the possums away, and stretched it JUST A TOUCH and balanced out the red skyglow (LOW res, and haven't paid for my Astrobin yet )

Good way to start your innings.

Well Lewis with all that you said, meaning no tracking etc, not half bad, well done.
When it comes to focusing i actually hate those Bahtinov thing's, I bought one when i had my Tak and soon got rid of it, the Tak, as you know snaps into focus with the eye alone. however i realise you were not using a Tac this time.

PS: Eta Carinae positions itself rather "nicely" for me right over the threshold HIAL for RWY35 and bang on over the Fyshwick porn..errr...industrial district including a Houghy Mover (aka Bunnings).

So yeah...I am snookered at home lol.

Pps: I just tried stretching the image. The noise scared the possums in the roof so I decided not to proceed further lest they attack me like drop bears.

Yes I really REALLY like this scope. No slouch.

Ordered another autofocus kit and Lodestar will be here eventually. My custom adaptor for the CCD should be here Thursday and filters who knows when (Optlong CLP and SVBONY UV/IR) ex China. Then I can semi automate it per H's demands.
