Modified Camera white balance

Sooo,

I got bored today and modified my 650D which was actually easier than i thought.

I removed the lp2 filter completely. For now im not worried about putting in the clear glass as its purely astro only camera. I also have a clip in filter on order for light pollution.

Question. Camera works good but is Super red. Is this the point i put in a custom white balance to sort it out. Or is this normal and the red comes out in processing.?

ok so think to answer my own question custom white balance is the go. still gotta suss it out properly. Its been cloudy as heck here funny enough but managed a couple of frames. actually makes a great comparison.

Picture 1 Orion nebula eos 650d 1 hour data in 45 second subs
Picture 2 Orion nebula modified eos 650d 2 mins 30s seconds in 30 second subs.

almost as much data in 2 mins modified as there is in 1 hour not modified.

cant wait to test on other areas of interest soooon

'Super Red' is the infrared component the eye can't see made visible by the removal of the filter. Now go point it at an infrared source in the sky and see all the stuff you never saw before.

Removing the blue filter (#2) from the chip has significantly increased the red response - just what you want for Ha stuff....
The remaining anti-alias/ dust shake filter (#1) acts as a UV-IR filter limiting the NIR..
