grey skies are gona clear up !

Wow fantastic, and its not even a new moon yet. Just went out to check the mail box took two steps off the verandah, turned around and went back in again!

5 Mins later im set up in the front yard with my trusty (new toy) red LED headtorch 12.5 and 30 mm plossl's.

I had no idea M42 was soooo big. Have seen it through 1/4 moon through to full but have never seen the entire Nebula.. WOW

Spotted the the tarantula or NGC 2070 just at the top of the large magal maja oh the big cloud ...... Then spent around an hour pushing her around the sky..

Ican see i am going to have to install the red led's in/on the finder to se the cross hairs tho.

Absolute pitch black, tripped over the dog(dog didnt mind the hot coffee on him. sat there and licked it off then came looking for my mug) moved the mug .......told him "NO" *grrrrr snort* curled up at my feet went to sleep.

Business phone rang (why the f... do people ring businesses at 9PM and expect people to answer?? sorry pet peeve) ran inside while dog drank remaining coffee out of my mug. Came back outside sat on my chair as the dog, full of my coffee, drops his guts and looks up at me as if to say " WHAT? ".

Boss walks over with his MagLight to see what im doing.

So.... After the 2 mins re-adjusting to the temporary blindness. I packed up, left the dog in the cold, made myself a coffee and curled up in front of the computer..

Are all your viewing nights as interesting as mine ????

I envy your dark skies Frogtwat. Must get lonely out there at Kulnura, though??!!

Glad to hear my dog is not the only one with a "gut-dropping" issue.

LOL, sounds like a usual night to me! But try it also standing in sheep poo and the neighbours horses leaning over the fence to see what you are doing and constantly farting. Why is it horses fart more at night?

Glad you enjoyed what you saw. It's a BIG sky isn't it!

That`s very funny guys, good reading, my dogs stay inside on my side of the bed and growl and show there teeth when i want to go to bed. It`s the cat that bugs me by smooching against the tripod legs.

you guys crack me up. Only the mozzies pay attention to me.
I would be laughing myself senseless at the nocturnal goings on in the rural areas.
Oh yeah, the only other noises I hear in the early hours are braindead idiots doing burnouts in the local streets.

I don't hear a single car after about 9p.m. Even before that cars are about 10-15 minutes apart!

The bloke down the road starts his truck up at 6a.m. and then nothing until school time.

Daytime consists of the occasional car, Cow's sometimes mooing and lot's and lot's of noisy cockatoos in huge flocks!!

For the first time in 2 weeks the sky is clear, Hooray.

I have set up out the back and the thermometer says 6 degrees already!!!!!!!!! and it is only 7:50 pm.

Gonna get cold tonight. Forecast is for frost, but I'll stay out as long as possible.

But at least the sky is finally clear.
