Ngc1760

Hi everyone,

Haven't posted anything for a while so here is 4 hours of NGC1760 I captured a couple of months ago and finally had a go at processing. There are 6x1200s Ha and 6x1200s OIII subs.

Equipment:
Atik one 6.0
GSO CF RC10 with Astrophysics 0.67x telecompressor
NEQ6 Pro with belt mod

C&C welcome.
Thanks for looking,
Lucas

Looks pretty good Lucas, even just on low res
Is that Ha Ha OIII? It is an interesting star cluster.

Excellent work. Trish and I suspect, having seen your version, that we overcooked the OIII in ours. The cluster inside the brightest central nebulosity looks clearer in yours. Nice and deep. Well done.

Best,
Mike

Nicely done Lucas, I like the details and the colour palette. Do you have a high res version.

Cheers
Alistair

Thanks Colin. It is a bicolour composite. The Ha is mapped to the golden colour and the OIII is the blue/turquoise.

Nice work

Thanks for that Mike. I am always interested in the bits of extra info regarding targets. I will do some more reading on NGC1760 as you have awoken my curiosity.

Thanks Mike and Trish. I am enjoying the extra detail I am getting from narrowband in my light polluted suburb.

Thanks Alistair. I made a rookie mistake and overwrote my high res tiff with the low res. I have a high res version that is only a couple of steps back from the finished image so I might have to retrace my steps....

Nice work Colin.

Amazing we processed our data the same time. I captured this data a few months ago when it was higher up. Your data is quite sharp. I was also using 2x2 binning so it probably lost a bit of rez but gains in signal rapidly.
The 694 is very sensitive in narrowband eh?

Greg.

Thanks Greg. When I saw your image it actually reminded me I had shot the same target. I love the 694 chip. It is very sensitive as you say and has low read noise. I'm not that worried about the smaller size of the chip. The pixel size is small enough to image on a wider field scope with good sampling should the target be a little larger.

Thanks Geoff. I have been refining my colour mapping techniques and I am pleased that these more traditional colours work for Ha and OIII. I did a tarantula recently and I mapped it to a pretty funky colour palette which was subject to taste.

Thanks Ray. I love the detail you can draw out of these narrowband images. BTW I am really enjoying reading all of your technical posts on IIS. They are a wealth of great information!
