I ONCE was drying the scope (10 inch dob) in the garage. Cover off and letting the mirror defog after using it the night before. I didn't realise it was so close to the sun till I turned back and saw the film canister in the focuser smoking! Burnt a 1cm hole in it within seconds. Was very careful about where it was pointed after that.

Yeah but to get good crackling you really need an Ethos and a Paracorr
