HELP all internet people ...

Sad me at the moment , I got the new NBN it our house 3 weeks ago .

fast forward to last saturday ( yes it took that long ) when a Telstra tech arrived at 2pm to see why I was ' NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER !!! " , no worries there as both my darling and me dont get home from work till after 1pm saturdays .

Tech arrives and does a check on the land line to home ,,, takes an hour to discover our Hub is wired into the next street over ??? , both of us are not happy , I looked at the wireing and man if this was my car it would have broke down years ago , a JOKE !!! , wires sealed with tape under the ground for crying out loud ..

This aint the problem as we now have NBN into the house , , main desktop is Charging at 1200kbs , awsome , my darlings laptop and Telstra smartphone are doing it .
3 months free movies ( we already have Foxtel ) and 1tb a month !!! great on paper .

My Dell Latitude i3 W8 and W10 950xl smart phone are away , FAST , I was impressed untill I tried my new Asus i5 W10 laptop in my telescope room , it wont connect . I am dreaming the password to ADSL I have typed it so many times .

I rung Telatra last night and we went thru everything they could think of , disable Nortons 360 , windows firewall , direct Ethernet cable and nothing made ary difference , still

" Cannot connect to the internet "'

I spent 3 hours after this Tech ?? had no more ideas and went thru every option using W10 'Devise Manager ' and every WiFi driver and ascioated driver is
'Working as normal' .
I tried every ,
'Internet option ' in the computers help ( W10 is very clever here , impressive even ) , still no joy .

Help me please , I have contacted Microsoft and are awating a reply , but perhaps someone here can help .

.
Brian.

PS. my WI-FI Advanced III Wifi works perfectly on the Asus in the telescope room and every other computer and phone in the house , I am using it to type this help , and yes I have turned it off to see if is interfearing with the ADSL signal NO .
I dont have to hand this Wi-fi III system over untill the new NBN is running properly ,,, BTW they way to Telstra's credit they have given me a free 25Gb on the Wi-fi III package untill this NBN problem is sorted .

Band aid on caratoriod artiry breach ?

Hi Brian,

If you're connected via a hub, I doubt you need Windows Firewall as well. The hub will have its own, and having two can defo cause problems like this.

My own last two hubs have had their own and one of them actually mentioned to turn off the Windows Firewall, - that's how I know this.

Hope it helps

EDIT: whoops I can see now that you did this. Sorry!

Check your "Network and Sharing Center" mode/type ie whether your LAN adapter is connected as either a "Public" or "Private" Network type.

When it is a "Public" network type chances are you would not be able to surf the internet.

HTH
Cheers
