Astro Facebook Groups

I gave into peer pressure and registered as a Facebook user mainly to join and keep in touch with RAAF related groups but I also joined the Astrophotography/ Amateur Astronomy Enthusiasts group. I am impressed with the images posted by members of this FB group and I am wondering if there are any other Astro FB groups?

Welcome to the dark side, Hans. I did the same 4 years ago. I was vehemently against it for about 4 years before caving in. I don't participate much in astronomy groups but spend most of my time in activist/humanitarian groups.

You can probably think of it as an amalgamation of the larger American and European (and, Australian) groups in one place. We get to see lots of good stuff that we'd normally not see.

You've got to "Like" the IIS page!
https://www.facebook.com/iceinspace/

I try to do a good job of keeping up with the latest news, images and importantly, heads-up on events. With nearly 9,000 Likes now, Mike and I must be doing something right .

Today for instance, I posted that the Sun is showing a sunspot in the shape of a love heart, along with a gorgeous image. Yesterday, I posted about the double shadow transit of Europa and Io on Jupiter with an occultation of a star. See..... you get to stay informed .

Suzy,

I love the IIS facebook page. I frequently see stuff, which would have otherwise missed.

Keep up the good work.

The ASV (Astronomical Society of Victoria) also has their own FB group for Astrophotographers.

The ASV has always had an AP Yahoo group, and members wishing to join the proactive and educational ASV AP FB group just need to advise their membership number to join.

Cheers
