Solar eclipse

Some images from the solar eclipse earlier this month. We were south of Palu in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

A wide angle sequence from just after sunrise through to about half an hour after totality when the battery ran out.
Canon 100D, Tokina 11-16mm @ 11mm, ISO 200. Partials with Baader solar film, 1/125 f/3.5. Totality 1/6 sec, no filter.
Note Venus at the top right and Mercury halfway between Venus and the eclipsed Sun.

A few partial phase shots and one of totality showing the impressive prominence visible that day.
Canon 70D on ST-80 telescope (400mm f/5). Partials 1/2000 ISO 200 with Baader solar film. Totality 1/8000 no filter.

Due to technical issues, I got very few corona shots so this is from 5 shots @ 1/250 sec. Same setup as above. No filter.

Oops! I forgot about the Flickr thing with IIS. Images attached now.
Thanks David. Pretty much everything that could go wrong on this trip did. Except it wasn't cloudy on eclipse day.

Great photo's Steve! Glad you saw it in relatively clear skies. Like many, we saw it through thin cloud.

Are you saying the only corona shots you got were 5 frames all at 1/250?

IF so, you can make some other exposures using these.

Stacking & adding the images can give you longer exposures, Stack and subtract or multiply can give you shorter exposures. then you can composite.

good luck.

Joe
