Meade UWA's on sale

I see that the Meade Series 5000 UWA eyepieces are on sale in the US.

The best value seems to be the 5.5mm (current improved waterproof model) which is US $103. B&H's cheapest shipping option gives a total price of US$118 or A$165. Even with the cr@ppy exchange rate that's a good price.

I have the 5.5mm on loan from Dunk and it's very good. Kinda hoping he forgets I have it...

The 6.7 mm in this series was one of the best EP'S I've ever looked through and owned period!!

UP there optically with anything , at or near it's focal length; and I mean anything.

Grab some if you can, most are that good

The 14mm s5000 UWA is one of the worst I have looked through.

That having been said these are not a scaled design and different focal lengths in this series perform very differently, with some being very good and excellent value for money (not close to the best I have used in any focal length) and some, like the 14mm being very poor. If you do buy any of these make sure you only buy the focal lengths which are known to be good performers and you will get a very good eyepiece at a very good price.

Cheers

Agreed John about the 14mm. -the 8.8mm being one of the very good focal length ones left on sale I think.

PS:Yes I remember reading this article, and this was the reason I bought the

13mm Nagler T6.

Cheers bigjoe
