NASA receives significant budget boot for fiscal year 2016

With the passing on 18th December 2015 by both the US Congress
and Senate of what is known as the omnibus bill, NASA has received
a significant funding boot for fiscal year 2016.

The budget approves USD19.3 billion for the space organization, some
USD1.2 billion more than for 2015 and USD750 million more than
had been proposed by the White House.

The Space Launch System (SLS) heavy lift rocket booster development
will receive USD2 billion and the Orion crew capsule, USD1.72 billion.

USD175 million is provided for the development of a Europa orbiter and lander.

The James Webb Space Telescope (WST) will receive its full funding request
of USD620 million.
