M13 - Hercules Globular Cluster

Here's my first northern target from astrofest. M13. I used to look at it visually with my 65mm Perl Vixen refractor back home in 86 when Halley comet was around. Then I sold that refractor and bought an electric guitar which proved a lot better to pick up girls.

So it's been a long time between drinks when I finally imaged it last week. It was a little low but still a lot higher than in Sydney. Not too sure about the colors. Maybe it should be a little bluer.

I have a full res 1:1 here [8MB - 4256x2822]
It's bigger than my sensor pixel size because I used bayer drizzle.

HD version is here: [2MB - 1920x1273].

You'll see a small galaxy at 2 O'clock in the full res and loads of background faint fuzzies as well. Enjoy the view.

Yeah it does hey? Gotta work out the color balance a bit better.

very nice Marc, razor sharp and plenty of background galaxies in the mix! colour perhaps a little warm as mentioned but a cracking shot!

Thanks mate. Color's not my forte I'll have to work out the color balance in PI. Still not too sure which one of the processes does it.

It is nicely captured, loving the background galaxies peeking through

What may work is doing a white balance in PI but selecting as much as possible that doesn't contain the globular cluster, that could be what is throwing that out. My colour calibration is pretty terrible mind you so feel free to disregard what I have to say

You're picking up the wrong girls then.

Good one. The drizzling worked a treat. Lots of background beasties making the field interesting.

Must have been quite a logistical challenge getting to Qld with all the kit.

Thanks Mike. It seems to work better on some pics than others. Still to investigate if dithering is the cause. I travelled light with what I knew worked and I tested everything plugged in the living room before hand. Cut the trip in two 7h halves, slept in Armidale. Rig behaved and all went well. The only thing I'd advise is to pack a tarp. Sun showers in QLD are brief but fierce.

i like the subject and yes its yellow, but the background noise is apparent - maybe pushed a little - says me that hasn't processed a thing for ages.

Thanks mate. Yeah I had to dump all the subs from Monday night on this one, so it is only Sunday's run. The seeing was so bad early evening that I thought I had binned the subs 2x2 when I checked them . Agreed about the color. I seem to do yellow or green pictures lately. I need to switch my Ha mono brain off gear and see the light in colour again I'll give it a couple of days and repro.
PS: I'm also learning PI. I've been assimilated. Resistance was futile.

Nice work Mark, those few extra degrees of latitude north can make a difference . I was looking at this the other night through my 12" dob out at Wallaroo, I got some resolution but it was pretty low and I certainly wouldn't have bothered to image it.

Thanks Mike. Yes a few degrees did a lot of difference on the veil and I also have a neat shot of the Pleiades. M33 and Andromeda were awesome. M16/17 right up the zenith too. I got two panels on these.

On M13, does it have a yellow tinge? I can't seem to make it blue. Even with all the channels to equal levels. Just wondering.
