  • Here is the higher res picture
  • Here is some history, mythology, some zooming on the central O-type star and a scale of stars for comparison with the Sun.

Very pretty Lagoon and pleasing to the eye, well done Simon. I would like the nebula to stand out a tad more though, in particular in the darker parts.

Thanks Tim. I had some fun with this. I think I'm getting interested about the history and science behind the pictures as well as the pictures themselves. There are so many resources that help.

Excellent advice Slawomir, thank you for giving me that. I'm always on the lookout for advice on what I can do to help improve my techniques and images. I was a little worried when I applied some curves to this. Often I'll stretch out too little at the bottom end of the scale which reduced my darks to greys more than blacks. I'll keep your advice in mind though and go a little darker for the future I think. I agree by the way, when I experimented with bring out out some more detail in the central region I found that by going darker, more detail came out! Counter intuitive for me but I'll experiment with it some more and see what happens.

That's really nice as well Simon, I like the colour too.

Not that it is a bad thing but seems like an awful lot of exposure for such a bright object..still, if you can then why not, huh?

Mike
