Its been way too long since I visited you fine folks here. Life has been hectic and I have joined a photo community called the arcanum so spending most of my down time there.

Anyway I though I would run you through some of the pictures I've taken in the last few months.

Keen to get your thoughts

1 - Vertorama of Scarsdale, I had big plans this night but hit a roo after visiting this location so my night ended early
2 - 30 image stitch of a new location, taken with a 50mm lens, I wanted to trial a big stitch and also came to the conclusion that the nifty 50 needs an upgrade for night shots
3 - Mine ruins, this is an old mining pump house I was lucky enough to meet the owners while scouting here and have permission to pay a visit at night times, more exploring at this location
4 - Reflections of a windmill
5 - The old chev
6 -Mackenzies at moonlight
7 - Scarsdale Aurora Pano (was waiting for the right time of year to get the first shot
8 - The Moonlit Balconies, I wasnt brave enough to jump the railing but I did score a moon set with some smoke haze from burning off as well as some cool airglow, it got alot better as the moon went down I didnt unfortunately get a pano after moon set.

Some great compositions and locations there, the last picture is amazing.
I have recently started to try panoramas, and was wondering how you stitch them together, manually in say photoshop, or using one of the automated tools like Microsoft image composition editor?

Nice set Mat did you try illuminating the foreground objects as well .I accidentally did so recently and was surprised by the results.I like the old car and ruins adds a timelessness to the pics.

Tim I normally use ICE but if it can't do it PTGui works

Derek I have tried a little light painting with mixed results for multi image panos I've actually cranked the ISO to 25600 then drop the exposure. Less noise than increasing the exposure on an ISO 3200 image. The ruins is a new find with some old mining equipment on the property so will be visiting again.

I also am on the fence about lighting the foreground in some images. Sometimes it makes for a less believable image of I mean not as close a recreation as to what the scene was eg when we take these images it's dark and even when your eyes adjust you still can't "see" like daylight. Some images call for lighting to help but also draw away from the main subject which to me should be the stars.
