Aldi's National Geographic 8x42 Roof Prism Binoculars

I kept seeing these binoculars in Aldi's for $39.95 and I ignored them. But then at a nearby store they dropped the price to $25.99 (though not at all stores). So I bought a pair.

They are plainly better than my Kogan 8X42 roof binoculars - which cost $59 and which I find very good for daytime viewing, but which give some annoying mushiness when used on DSOs.

Tonight I was comparing the Aldi's ones to my Andrews 10x42 Triplet Semi-Apos. Apart from the difference in magnification I couldn't see that much difference between them. I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy the other pair in Aldi's for $25.99.

Certainly the old adage that if one bought cheap binoculars they would most likely be junk, isn't necessarily so nowadays (unless one buys Chinese stuff from Ebay).

Has anybody else tried this pair?
Regards,
Renato
