A couple more quick and dirty shots from out the window.

These were taken on the night of the 25th / 26 March. I wanted to add more data, hence the delay in posting but haven't had a chance due to cloud and rain. So here they are, a bit noisy due to needing more data. But you get the general idea anyway.

M16 The Eagle Nebula is 90 x 30 seconds unguided with the HEQ5 Pro and M6 The Butterfly Cluster is 55 x 30 seconds. Same setup as before, Bintel 8" F4 Newtonian, Baader MPCC MKIII, unmodified Pentax K-5. For M16 I used a nebula filter. From out the window, of course.

Astrobin.

Lovely shots mate. I hadn't thought of using the interval feature on the K50 but I'll certainly give that a go now. When you do lots of subs, do you use DSS or a similar program to weed out the least sharp ones before you stack them?

H Kevin, those 2 are FAB, I have to wait until after 4 am before the eagle rises above a tree to my east. Oh well another month and will get an opportunity. The Butterfly is also beautiful.
Well Done!

Thanks Bruce and Ray.

John, yes I do but I go through them one by one with Irfanview - a freeware image viewing program. I don't trust that DSS would make the correct decisions for me. I also weed out the frames with cloud, obviously. They are then stacked 100% in DSS and post processing in Photoshop. I bought a couple of plugins for photoshop - gradient Xterminator and Starshrink which work very well. It's possible to do those functions in PS alone but more tricky. The plugins make it easier.
