Are AOE (Aquila Optical & Electronics) still operational?

Hi everyone,

I've been browsing a few websites in search of some odds and ends (some filters, a new Barlow, +/- an eyepiece) and AOE have a couple of items I'm interested in.

They don't, however, seem to have a phone number, and have so far failed to respond to two e-mails a couple of days apart.

Do they still exist? Are they alive? Are they on holidays? Am I just an impatient git?

Any illumination would be appreciated.

Cheers!
Chris

they still exist, i bought some 15x70 ultra binos of them a couple of weeks ago - i have also had a few email responses from them - but not usually same day, it took them a couple of days... their advice is usually pretty honest i think. the fax no is fax to 02 9724 1984, but usually they are an internet business

Hi Chris,

I bought my 80ED from them. I found them to be very slow in the email response (about a week), and having no contact number was nerve wrecking and frustrating, but from my experience they will always answer you eventually.

Cheers,

Markus

Aoe

I purchased a AOE 104mm Achromatic scope off Ebay. Are they a reasonable scope? I didn't pay much so it's OK to deliver the brutal truth!
Cheers

102mm

Yes, that's the one.. Lol. It was a bargain price and it only needs to be slightly better my 6" Celestron Newtonian. The scope is there to be my travel scope my travel scopes are welled travelled good enough to be useable not so expensive that tears would be shed at losing them.
This however brings me to my travel mount. I purchased from Astroboy IIS member the most beautiful EQ mount I have ever had the pleasure too use. It is a Mizar Japan mount. My son is an engineer and I have shown the mount to both my son and his friends and to a person they are blown away with the precision of the mounts worm gears and the seamless quality of the mount. Iincluded in the Mizar mounts new fan base is a Pro Astronomer!
The only problem I have now is my travel mount is too good! In closing a HUGE vote of gratitude and appreciation running out to Astroboy, many thanks!
