Canon 600D/Other OTA on 4SE Mount

Hi,

I have seen a lot of pictures of other OTAs and DSLRs mounted on a Nexstar mount but I can't seem to find the details on attachments/instructions needed to do this. Just to be clear I want to remove my existing 4SE OTA and replace with say a Orion 80ED short tube or attach my DSLR with a telephoto lens.

Thank for your help.

mounts

Hi I always just piggyback my DSLR to the scope on my nextstar.
That way I can look at some things as well.
As for the ED80 you can just use a normal dovetail and tighten up the mount bolt underneath.
Ive used a 70mm frac after taking off my mak cass and it worked fine.
If you want to just use a DSLR Im sure there is an adapter out there try google or ebay.
Hope it helped

I use an Orion Dovetail L-Bracket for this purpose.

The vertical leg fits the Celestron mount where the dovetail on the OTA usually goes, and the horizontal arm with camera mounting screw will support camera bodies, small telescopes, binocular adapters, etc. You can set up the GoTo in either Alt-Az or EQ mode (with the built-in wedge on the mount), and you should be able to do quite long exposures with a reasonable EQ alignment.

@julianh. That's just perfect just what I was after. Thank you so much. I do remember seeing it on my research in Google but hadn't come across anyone having used it with 4Se mount. How long an exposure have you managed ?

@Willow. I have used my DSLR with t adapter on the back of 4se ota but it seems to throw the tracking off. Not to mention that f13 for DSOs are just useless. Have you been able to achieve accurate tracking with piggy back? If you have what do you do differently?
