Hi guys,

This is my first attempt at a DSO, so I picked a nice bright one. I'm pretty happy but still have a lot to learn. No guiding as yet so limited myself to 25 x 1min and 5 x 15sec exposures @ iso 1600.

I had plenty of issues with dew, so that's something I'll have to learn to deal with. Learning how to use Pixinsight is going to stop me getting bored for sometime also.

Captured with a Canon 6D. 9.25" EdgeHD on a Celelstron CGEM mount. Processed with Pixinsight and Lightroom.

That's close to the best first attempt at a DSO that I've seen. The colour
is slightly too intense IMHO, but other than that, it's a ripper.

Thanks Raymo. Probably got a bit carried away with the processing. Just having some fun seeing what was possible with Pixinsight.

Like the detail , what F ratio were you working at?

Celestron don't have a focal reducer for the 9.25" EdgeHD yet. I'll grab it when they do.

Hi Murray,
Your doing well unguided at F10 ,makes me want to get my C9.25" out instead of the SW120ED and do some imaging , it's been in its box for over a year now. With a F6.3 reducer I can just get M42 and the running man in the picture.

I'm looking forward to getting my guiding up and running. A little over a minute exposure was about my limit.
The reducer will be good too, so I can get a little more in the frame. This image is only slightly cropped. It doesn't leave much working room.

Fantastic first DSO attempt, just wait until you get guiding up and running. even before then, if you work on your polar alignment you can get your stars to a pin point with 1 min exposures no problems.
