27mm panoptic first night out :)

I've had this eyepiece a week now and had a quick look over a couple of nights.. between moon ,clouds ,next doors security light etc.

Into the focuser and straight to antares , the only thing visible amoungst the clouds.. very relaxed and contrasty view .. across to M4 and the moons out from the clouds to now .. lots of detail there despite all the skylight ..the wide field and pinpoint sharpness of everthing is really absorbing on its own.. I spotted a few faint doubles here and there that would just never of showed up at all in the gso plossel.. ring nebula , jewel box and the butterfly cluster then back inside..Well i havn't had a decent look really with this eyepiece yet to be honest but so far its been a stunning intro into what to expect with some friendlier nights.

I DO have to get used to eye placement while viewing though.. I get disstracted to easily chaseing objects around the wide field .

I may have to do a little tweaking of my spring tension ? .. I noticed a couple of times
down towards the horizen the extra weight of this fair sized chunk of glass is
borderline to holding a view steady .

take care ns

Hi NS

Congratulations you have one very fine eyepiece in your possession with much enjoyment to come.

Our 27mm Pano is our most used eyepiece

If you have a balance problem try a magnet from an old speaker as a balance weight before altering the springs.

You mention eye placement a bit of a problem. If you find eye relief too much, you might like to try a Televue eyeguard extender. I'm getting one for mine.
