With the never ending clouds around I decided to go through and repro all my galaxy images from the last 2-3 years and do a montage. My light pollution is a nasty orange/red colour on the light pollution map (
http://www.lightpollutionmap.info/#z...ayers=B0TFFFTT) so these things are hard to do but the galactic plane moves west this time of year so I persist each year with a few of them. Most of these are done using 10”/F4.7-5 newts or an old 10”/F10 sct and the subs vary from one 5min sub to several hours and the conditions varied from poor to good seeing/guiding/focusing/processing. Found it surprising and interesting how many different shapes there were.
As for the globs, well one night a while back when the galactic plane was within an hour or so of my interfering shed and I couldn’t think of anything to target (apart from galaxies??), globs sprung to mind. Had to be quick as most of them lie along the plane so did five by sixty second subs of each and jumped to the next one. Bit rough but again found it interesting to see them all together and I think “interesting” is what astronomy is all about at least for me anyway. Not going to name them. You will have to figure it out yourself.
Cheers
