morning everyone
well its arrived just before lunch on wednesday
(what a Size )
took a couple of pics (film camera if they turn out i hope to scan a couple into the computer)
i opened the base box first, ok cool no instructions on how to put it together (ill get to this later ) laid out all the parts.
then i started to put it together went easy enough
mine came with the roller bearings type movement platform , also came with an base handle, i used that to move it across the carpet no probs there but i dont think ill be tempted to do that on rough ground because of its weight , ive got an fridge trolley anyway
next came the opening of the ota box
wow factor came in its huge
no damage found (great)
i mounted that on the now assembled base no probs there bit awkward to handle but no biggie.
next came the ep box what was in there was a 32mm 2inch no brand name on it ep huge
then there was one cheshire ep (paid extra for that)
then a 30mm 1.25 inch series 500 ep
and finally an 15mm 1.25inch seris 500 ep.
not really what i asked for but i aint complaining
also came with binoculars.
also in the ep box wat the construction manual for the base and so on (duhhh)
the dob also came with the crayford focuser (not the moonlite one )
now came the checking of the optics
this is the part i may be having trouble with as ive got noone to ask and show me a demo on how its done correctly locally
ive got several pages on how its done but me i usually learn quicker by some one showing me but ill learn
so ill tell here what ive done what i think is correct please feel free to offer any advice
i put in the cheshire
i found that the secondary mirror was out by a mile
i couldnt see the three clips holding the primary mirror thru the cheshire
so i loosened the three screws and adjusted the mirror until it show me the centre spot on the primary in the centre of the chesshire (is this correct sofar ?)
then i did the same for the primary is this correct ?
ive not had the chance to do an star test yet (it hasnt got x-ray Capabilities (clouds)
also ive noticed that the cheshire has crosshairs no really sure what they are for (are they used to align the primary with the crosshairs that the spider gives you on the primary ? not that ive used them for that though
)
so i reckon according to me its reasonably collimated now ?
actually i got to hang my head in shame
the 2 inch 32mm is an gso sp thats what it says on the box it came in, and not on the ep itself, thats why i said i had a noname ep, sorry people
what was supposed to come with the scope was a 9 and a 25 mm cant remember what size inches (2 inch i think)
and i could choose another two series 500 1.25 inch
what came was 1 x 32.mm gso sp (2 inch)
1 x pl 30mm 1.25 inch
1 x pl 15mm 1.25 inch
1 x cheshire
