The outer shell of NGC 6164/6165 is really dim

I'm up to 32 hours of OIII on this sucker and getting some nice detail but it's still really noisy at 1:1...

The interwoven festoons of nebulosity really give this a 3D look. Excellent work Rick, you’re obviously blessed with copious amounts of imaging stamina in your DNA!

Cheers

Assuming I get to 100 hours the sad fact is that is that the SNR will be no more than 1.7677 times better. Thanks anyway, Troy

Thanks, Dennis. I think I'm just too stubborn to know when to stop

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Very impressive Rick - how you manage these mega data sessions from your limited view of the sky amazes me!

Wow that looks gorgeous! Some exceptional detail in those faint lobes. Excellent work Rick.
Any chance of a full narrowband colour image? With proper RGB stars of course.... At 32 hours per channel it'll be a quicky

Thanks, Steve, John & Rolf!

I have some Ha and RGB for stars already. No SII yet - I have a feeling it will take a lot of hours on that filter.

Cheers,
Rick.

Lovely detail in the outer cloud, those hours have really produced a beautiful image, well worth the effort.

Beautiful image but what about your setup; camera, scope (refractor or reflector) and guiding or unguiding + mount !!! I think that I remember there is possibility to write the setup used in the signature.
