Running Chook - why is it called that?

This is not my first light with the new set up at Coona - its the second really as I have some M83 data to process still. But its a close second.

Here are links to my images of IC 2944 - HaLRGB and Ha only.

Small versos are attached

Taken with PW CDK12.5 and STX16803 from the iTelescope site at Coonabarabran where my gear is hosted.

It comprises 4 hours Ha, 4 hours 45 mins L and 1 hour 45 mins in each of R, G and B. Processed in PI. There is still some troubling green in the background which I plan to play with - for now I'm happy that I could add Ha without totally messing up the colour.

Comments - constructive or otherwise - most welcome

Pete

Really nice Pete

As to constructive criticism I don't pretend to be an expert on image processing but in my humble opinion I reckon there are a few finishing touches that could be made. I hope you don't mind but I had a little fiddle and applied what personally I like which is:

Add a bit more contrast, the image looks a little washed out.

Reduce the green channel slightly and up the blue a smidgen.

Reduce the star sizes to put more emphases on the nebula.

Cheers
Jo

Yep, another great early image with the new SSO rig Pete and Jo's adjustments actually look pretty good too ...again juuuust watch that decon (IMO) it gives the bright areas of nebulous detail a stringy dotty appearance and looks unnatural (again, just IMO)

Very nice Pete, and I agree with Mike that Jo's colour adjustment has helped. Good Job!

All the best

Paul
