When does UPS consider end of day?

It's 1830 here now, and my UPS delivery scheduled for today, end of day is still a no show... and I needed the part to get the FSQ imaging.

I wonder when status will change to "Delayed"

Always the way... had the FSQ 3 weeks now, and not a chance still.

I nicked out to the shops for 15 minutes today and missed the delivery of my new Tokina lens. Now it will probably be next week before I get it.

If it is any consolation Lewis, I just took the Takawatcher ED80 for a spin on the HEQ5 and wait for it.............DID SOME VISUAL!!!!!!

What a corker of a little scope, the moon was crisp with no hint of colour fringing, with the Orion 40mm plossl and the Pentax XL 8.5mm.

I even cranked it up to 350x with the 5x powermate and the Pentax on Saturn for a view of the Cassini division. Very noice indeed

Too much moonwash to try any imaging, I just packed it all up and revelled in the fact I only had to coil up two cables and then cart the scope and the mount inside in one go....grab and go indeed

Just thought I would share, considering it is the first clear night in god knows how long in this rain addled city, it was refreshing to see some nice pinpoint star clusters like the Jewel box and Eta Carinae's surrounds.

Cheers

Chris

Now I am P!$$ED.

Just rang them, and they told me if it is not delivered by the 28th to contact my sender so they can launch an investigation. BLOODY HELL!

So, it left Botany, NSW depot on the 13th, supposed to be delivered 16th (yesterday) and now it's gone AWOL in between Sydney and Brisbane.

NOT HAPPY JAN!

Ups

I bought a used 17mm Tele Vue Nagler from OPT....had UPS as the courier from the US....the tracking number I had received to check on the UPS site had the product at our post office landed 4 days ago.....was checking the post office prior daily (we have a post box)....and still no eye piece.....I ended up printing the tracking number from UPS stating that the product was at the post office and provided to the post office staff....guess what after a 20min search they found my parcel from OPT...maybe you might be in the same situation...cheers Tom

Hi Tom,

I too have a PO Box, for security reasons, I don't like stuff being delivered and left on my door, when I am not home. Any one could just walk off with it and you would never know.

I had the same thing happen recently. I was expecting four parcels, all sent from the same place, on the same day, but only three, apparently, had arrived. I waited a few days, and when it hadn't arrived, I asked the PO staff if they could check.

It had arrived with the other parcels, but had fallen behind some other parcels and it went unnoticed, as they had only noted 3 items on the card left in my box. Human error, is alive and well. But, I wasn't p!$$ed though, these things happen.

So it does pay to ask.

Cheers Pete

Ummm... I feel that it should be noted that UPS and USPS are 2 different entities.

I don't think UPS deliver to PO Boxes. My understanding is that they are purely couriers, and have no arrangement with Australia Post, unlike the US Postal Service.

As usual, always happy to be shown the error of my ways!

I think you may be correct Shane, however, I have had UPS leave some 'small parcels' at the post office for collection, and left a notification in my home letter box. I don't know whether it is an official or an unofficial arrangement. However, on other occasions this hasn't happened, and have had a notification left in my letter back to say they will try again, up to three times, so I am a little confused on this. United States Postal Service (USPS) always deliver to my box, however, I rarely use them, and mostly use either Fedex or UPS. Oh, maybe it is Fedex that leaves them at the post office? It is one or the other.

Locally, ALL UPS is handled by a separate courier company totally unaffiliated with Australia Post. When I rang I asked if I could ring the local depot etc, and this information was denied to me. So, yes, I am a little peeved.

Not a massive order, but the missing piece in the FSQ106 puzzle - a $150 adapter (that Claude nor Peter Tan stock, only OPT or TNR)

I am HOPING it is at home when I get home, but I am not holding my halitosis-wreaked breath...

It's gone cloudy anyway. C'est la vie!

Just VERY glad I got the Baader Click Lock with the Tak adapter - I can image with it at f/5 at least. Might just do a sucker hole trial at M42 tonight from the balcony.
