Astroart v5 help

Hi,

I downloaded AA5 demo to see if it can do a better job than DSS, and I am happy with all its features and I am considering buying it.

However I have an issue with debayering ( or what AA5 calls colour synthesis).
I was experimenting with a stack of 10x300sec M45 subs and if I debayer one FIT sub it comes out blue as it should be. However when I stack the ten with darks, flats and bias it comes out pink???

In the colour synthesis panel it appears to put the green pixels side by side instead of diagonally opposite.

I tried stacking without darks, flats or bias and still pink stars and nebulosity.

Any ideas?

Regards
Bill

P.S I have a QHY12 OSC camera

Hi Bill,

With the canon sensors, the bayer matrix is RGGB, so AstroArt needs an offset of 0,0 in the colour synthesis dialog (see first pic).

According to some threads I found on the QHY forum:
http://qhyccd.com/ccdbbs/index.php?topic=3282.0
http://qhyccd.com/ccdbbs/index.php?topic=3109.0
The Sony sensor in the 12 has a GBRG matrix, so a 0,1 offset (see second pic)

Hope this works for you.

Edit: Are you doing the synthesis before or after stacking?
I always have it selected in the 'Options' tab of the preprocessor dialog.

PS. I had no end of drama's with DSS and the 60Da's 18Mp RAW files.
I trialed PixInsight and that was very slow to align and stack(Quad core i7), and I was not able to do more than 4 or 5 lights before I got 'out of memory' messages (even with 16GB of Ram!).
Trialed AAv5 and it was super fast and I still haven't hit a limit on the number of frames I can stack(yet). Sold.
For the price, I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks for replying Simon,

Interesting, I always use RGGB in DSS offset 0,0 (your pic 1) and it always works.
In astroart this also works if I debayer one FITS sub as well.

But after stacking in Astroart the matrix has changed and now the green pixels are shown side by side and none of the the offsets match this.

Anyway I tried all the available offsets and it didn't make any difference
still got pink stars.

EDIT: Are you saying I should do the color synthesis during the stacking process?, I always did it later, I'll give that a go and report back.

I hope I can solve the problem beacuse it stacks much faster than DSS.

I was going to evaluate Pixinsight but I only have 2Gb of ram and I believe it is very memory hungry.

Thanks
Bill

Are you able to upload two of your raw's somewhere?
I can give it a go if you like?

And yes PI is a memory hog, 16GB of ram and only able to stack 4 of 18Mp raw's? Joke.
I'm still gonna get PI one day, but I'll still use AA for its preprocessing.

You're a legend Simon, that fixed the problem, debayer whilst stacking and use offset 0,1.

That's good news, I think I'll go ahead and purchase it now.

Bill

Awesome
You won't regret it, worth it for the preprocessor alone.
