It's no AP Honders image...

But it's still the Rosette Nebula as captured by a 4" f/5 refractor. Reprocessed the data I had on it (stuff all H-a, about 2 hrs Lum.).

Don't care if'n none of youse likes it - I do

Don't worry Lewis, I won't do a Honders roll-over image ..... hey we do this 'cause it makes us happy...so whatever floats your boat has to be OK.

Your stars look like stars and I like the detail in the centre. Assuming that the ST8?

Did you use the internal guide chip by the way or the tak finder guider thing you put together?

Ta muchly for the kind words.

That's the SBIG ST-8XE cam, with the Lodestar through the Tak finder. I could NOT get a decent star image with the SG chip AT ALL - main camera was focused, and I am damned if I could make a star out for the noise. Never mind - Lodestar works first time, every time.

One day I MAY have a better, bigger rig housed in an observatory, but for now I will make do with my ultra-portable rig sitting on the tiled patio in the side yard

Now, if only I can get those stars smaller

That's a very good grayscale image. No excessive magenta or cyan hue.

Nice image. I tried this target last night for the first time and was really surprised how faint it is. I took a 10 min sub and it was hardly visible without stretching. How long were your subs?

Thanks sandy.

The H-a subs were 7 minutes each by memory - lots of H-a detail in the Rosette.

The Lum were a mere 2 minutes each - any longer and I got severe bloating and blooming (still had some blooming on the bright star top left of the centre cluster)
