Noisy Little Fellows

It's that time of year again and the cicadas are out in force. I was outside painting yesterday and spotted this little one drying out his wings on one of my acers.

Nice shots Steve, love their colours but boy are they are deafening! On the way to the mountains over the weekend I could hear them as I was driving with the windows up and the radio on.

great shots!,we used to get these Cicadas in Melbourne, when I went to school, always loved catching them and the noise they made.We do not get these 'green grocer' ones here in QLD,lots of black ones, the only green ones are the 'bladder cicadas.

Great shots, Steve We used to get lots of green grocers, brown bakers and cherry noses when I was a kid growing up in Padstow. Sadly now we get hardly any, and the few we get are only the green ones.
