Any observing tonight?

Anyone out there getting set up for a night of observing? I've got my 8 inch f/5 on my eq5 set up and aligned, now sitting back having a beer and waiting for the sun to go down. Different sections of my yard have views of different parts of the sky. Tonight I'm focusing on the west, with Scorpius and Sagittarius in my sights.

Anyone else eagerly watching the clouds and moving their equipment outside?

Not tonight - but hoping to tomorrow night from Kinglake.

Paul

PS Last peek outside still showed a fair bit of cloud with more to come. Good luck though with your own viewing.

Once again the clouds have crept in at the last moment. I haven't had clear skies for over a week now.

Makes me wonder how people get any observing done in the UK. Must go for weeks on end without clear skies. I would get so disheartened!

Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Hope you have better luck than me Paul.

Cheers Phil, and likewise.
Wrt the UK you are spot on. I worked there for a year and I can tell that there was precious little blue sky that year. Check out astronomyshed.co.uk. A great forum but boy do they harp on (understandably) about the weather.

Not just weeks Philip, entries in my logbook for the past couple of years sometimes went _months_ between entries

But on the flip side, the weather would sometimes give a weeks worth of good nights at the end of which I'd need sleeeeeep
