Saturn A-Focal at 806x

I just came in from another great night , but using my Takahashi Mewlon 210 and TelVue 3mm Radian giving 806x magnification , the photos really dont give the view to my naked eye any justice as Saturn was beautiful tonight and the M210 and seeing took this high magnification well .
As always taken high tec , a-focal with my HTC smart phone hand held up to the 3mm Radian , blardy hard to do but I got a few good ones I think ? .
feed back welcome as always .
Brian.

nice pics Brian, I know how hard that is, I'm using poor man's afocal too with a HTC one xl. I find using the video and selecting pics from it easier then taking pics on the fly.

ill upload one of mine from a Meade 114 using a cheap ma9mm ...

I appeciate your hard work thou

how are you taking the pics in raw? is it something I missed in the default camera settings? (not that I have a pc to edit them on anyways) or are you using a 3rd party camera app like camera fv-5?

Nice going Brian, rather steady hands you have, Ive seen some A-focals done with a hand made wooden bracket of soughts to hold the Ph steadier. I can see the cassini division well in your takes, and wondering how much improvement you might add with a holder of soughts ? Good stuff ! !

The image you uploaded is only 50kb, so there's no detail lost by uploading it. You have up to 200kb to use if you need it.

Thanks for that Matt , nice shot you can make out the dusky markings on the globe of saturn well , your scope must be well columinated .
About what magnification were you using , its gotta be in the 200x plus ? .
Yea its not easy alright .
My phone is an HTC one as well , I dont know how to edit except crop in windows , so these are raw mate .
The shots at 806x looked about the same image scale of saturn in the eyepiece , HUGE! , nice and my IEQ45 was tracking brilliantly , kept the image dead center for a good 1/2 an hour at a time . And that was just plonked down , pointed roughly south and " synic'd to target " , no star allignments , its a great mount .
Keep it up mate . .
Brian.

Thanks Bob , yes , cassini division looks like a black painted on line done with a very fine paint brush , shows the quality of the Takahashi M210's optics , as 806x is in the way silly powers but both the scope and mount handled it easily it was that good a night here .
On the bracket , I recon a huge difference would be had , as my phone has a 10 second delay setting and repeat shooting at about 3/second I think so I could just set it and let it shoot as I stand back and watch . cool , I might do that . Thanks for the idea.

Thanks Laurie , the views in the eyepiece were still razor sharp in seconds of steady seeing , gotta be the best I have ever seen saturn ever ! Quality of the Taks shines again .
806x (2415 divided by 3) I will get my Atik 318L out when I get time and have a go , then we will see .

thanks Brian, I only posted mine to show how great your pics are. I took them to show a friend at work what can be seen with a cheap scope (80 bucks off gumtree). I can only imagine how she looks through your setup, something defenently(?) to be proud of.

as for the power used, I will work it out tonight (can't remember what I used). No tracking here, just a crappy eq1 with slipping manual slow motion controls. tempted to buy the eq2 mount but I'm not a local pickup.

your pics defiently set a new standard for what can be acheived and I'm blown away!

I hope you can add some more for your collection
matt
