Lunar X from LA

Who said you can't do Astronomy in the big smoke?
I captured this just now from the balcony of my motel here in Los Angeles, and was totally amazed to see I'd captured the illusive Lunar X.
Pardon the noise, CA and washed out detail. When you read the capture details you'll understand why. LOL
Lumix FZ200, hand held, using full 98x digital zoom.

Tracking seems good, focus is great, dark sky location. What else could you want. How about the dark skies of Flagstaff. Keep having fun and can't wait for the powerpoint of slides when you get home.

I'm in Flagstaff right now.
I can see snow capped mountains from where I am sitting.
Tonight we're going to see the new Star Trek movie. (My roomie Heather knows Leonard Nimoy btw) and tomorrow we are heading out on our Away Mission to the Grand Canyon, all of us in our Star Trek gear. LOLOL

Nice one JJJ!
Very jealous I am. How long were you in LA? It is a place that gets a bad rap but it is one of my fav cities to visit.

Enjoy the Grand Canyon, watch out for condors, nothing as magnificent as seeing a Californian Condor soaring over the Canyon.
