Question Lyrids this year??

Hey guys and gals, stars and planets,

Will there be any good viewing of Lyrids this year? (Sunday/Monday this week)? Will be almost full moon, so that can't be good for it.

Any good viewing spots in Brisbane?

Moonset is shortly after midnight. Best viewing is usually after midnight.

Average is 10 -20 per hour but has sometime been 100 / hour.

Hoping its clear. Possible showers forecast. (wet type, not meteor.)

Cheers

Go out NW from the metro area. I don't have time to do much viewing. So I'm not all that experienced in choosing any particular spots.

I am on acerage in the Southern part of Burpengary. 2.2Klm from the highway. its not ideal but at least I can often see the Milky Way from my backyard.

Out to the WNW from here are some high features that are dark.
jjj lives out that way, maybe a PM to her. jjj is always helpful.

Hope this may help.

Cheers

I'm wracking my brain trying to think of some place with a good clear northern horizon.
I have to contend with street lights and a mountain range where I am.
I reckon you'd have to head out Blackbutt way to get a good dark viewing site.

Also, bear in mind that the Lyrids are a rather tame meteor shower. You might not see anything.

Thanks guys. This is mostly information for my cousin as he is in Brissy. I'm in Rockhampton. Will pass all this info along. I should hopefully be living in Brissy next year so should be able to meet up with everyone and hit some viewing events!
