A quick M 83 before pea soup fog

I managed to get 80 subs at 25 sec then I noticed the corrector was covered with dew it seems that something happened to the heater unit and it stopped working so out came the hair dryer another 20 subs then the thick pea soup fog rolled in and soaked everything, it just was not my night so I packed up and processed the image. Its a bit rough maybe I will do better next time with lots more data.

Added another greyscale image with the same data reprocessed to gently squeeze out more detail

100 x 25 sec Subs at iso1600 (Alt/Az tracking no guiding)
50 Darks
50 Bias
12" LX200 (alt/az setup)
Sony Nex-3 camera
Stacked in DSS, Processed in GIMP

Nice image Wayne , quite a bit of detail , are you working at prime focus or with a focal reducer.

When you get the dew sorted you are going to be rocking!. Lovely picture. Great scale and detail despite the dew.

Shame the dew killed the shot but your field looks very good. Looking forward to more.

I Added another greyscale image with the same data reprocessed to gently squeeze out more detail. Philip I used a f6.3 reducer.

Very nice Wayne. There is considerable detail in that second image. Have you tried StarTools trial version, which is free and fully functional, except for saving? Only a suggestion - follow Ivo's galaxy tutorial. You might be pleasantly surprised.
