Great libration

Nicked outside last night for a quick look at the moon before a meeting and what a sight! The libration and sunrise was just perfect to really show the remains of the crater walls on Mare Crisium. The north wall was really obvious and the remains to the south west could be seen easily.

The main thing about this that got me was its a really clear rmeinder that the Mares are in fact just giant craters and I spent too much time sitting there trying to get my head around the forces involved in creating a crater this size. I was late for my meeting but had a really great philisophical discussion with myself
