Yet another pier thread. How deep for a CGEM?

I want to build a permanent pier for my CGEM. It will need to cope with the weight of a Meade 12inch ACF

How deep and wide a hole do I need? I was going to use a star post hammered into the centre of the dug hole, and then a PVC piping around he post to hold some concrete.

Edit: This is the sort of thing I was considering:

What an interesting design!
I did something similar recently, see here:

The hole for the concrete slab was 75cm deep, 35cm in diameter (I used 6 bags of concrete premix from Bunnings) and its pretty much OK.. maybe you do it a bit stronger (deeper, wider)
