Unfortunate human cost of the Apollo program but the deaths of the Apollo 1 crew did see some much needed changes in NASA and the program.

I was working for Rockwell International at the time....it broke our hearts and unfortunately the subsequent investigations were scathing of the capsule design and cleanliness.....
Gone but not forgotten.....White, Chaffee and Grissom...
