This is located in Ferntree Gully and currently list for $405. An estate scope, 1 of 3 on offer. Seller knows little about the scope. Absolute bargain price.
I am doing my first will next week. This is reminder for me to leave my gear to a my astronomical society so it does not end up going for peanuts on Ebay
I saw this the other day and sent a message that this is not a Solar scope. Was worried that someone may try to use it as such and burn their eyeballs out.
I sent a message to them to help them with some of the items in the description. They are certainly genuine in their intentions and as has been mentioned they are selling these items as th result of someone's passing.
I know from personal experience that these situations can be stressful and sometime you just want to offload the items regardless of the value.
There's some seriously nice-looking kit in that collection - the 16" dob, a really nice-looking astrophotography rig (HEQ5 pro mount, scope, motorised focus, and a large box of eyepieces and accessories) currently bundled at $640, and a solar scope for $340. But the sales end in just 3 hours!
Somebody's going to get some wonderful bargains at those prices - any budding astrophotographers in Melbourne should definitely look at the equatorial scope bundle. It's a tough time for those who have lost someone, but hopefully a new start for others.
I just spoke to Steve the guy who was selling the telescopes. Its a sad story actually, he was selling them on behalf of a lady who's husband of 40years passed away in March.
Steve said he received about 100 questions about the telescopes and it was hard to answer all of them as he didn't know anything about them and he tired his best to describe them as best as possible.
The Lady had only decided to sell the telescopes as she is selling the house and they are too big to take with her.
Yeah, it looked like that kind of unhappy story. Posessions always seem to have so much less value when you've lost something worth a lot more. I hope you and the others who have gained from this can give the gear a new lease of life.
