Lightning from south Adelaide.

Hi. I got awoken by a loud clap of thunder this morning at 4.30am. That was the call to load the car and head to my favorite spot. I noticed it was to the SE of my location and slowly moving away from me which worked out well as i never got rained on

Cool photos Steve, yeah lucky to not get rained on whilst caputuring lightning! What settings did you use? And just for fun how many lightning strikes do you reckon you missed?

Thanks Laurie and Carlos.
Carlos, for the first image the settings were ISO-100, EXP 30 secs, f/8.
The rest of the images were EXP 5 secs, ISO-100 and f/8 also. The sky was just starting to show some colour and getting lighter with the latter images so i reduced the exposure.
When i fist got there was the best. There were large strikes and very many of them. The miss/capture ratio was about 5:1 if not more in favor of the miss
So many went uncaptured.....another body and lens set up would have been sweet.
i have a few more images that i didn't post. I caught a few where the flash illuminated the cloud structure like the first image but without the bolt as well.
Am looking forward to the next one, nothing like getting some practice in on lightning captures

Thanks Justin. Yeah there certainly was a lot of activity. I loved it. I sent the first image into ch 10 and 7 yesterday and they both showed it in the weather section
It is kinda weird hearing my name on tv. Here is the link. Mine is the last image. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOtKg...&feature=g-upl
