60da daylight shooting

hell members is there an EOS filter clip that can be added to the 60da to obtain correct colour for normal daylifgt shooting, or does it have to be done using the custom white balance?
thanks in advance

Pat - no worries.

I'm sure you can achieve the same the CWB but - this sounds a whole lot easier to me!.

Be careful with the EOS clip filters - you can only use EF lenses with one in place. EF-S lenses protrude too far into the body and strike the filter.

I don't think you need a filter for daylight use for the 60Da when it is set to Auto WB - I have the same camera and used it in daylight shots and everything was colorised the correct tone

That filter may not work. I'd say that is designed for modded DSLRs using a Baader replacement UV/IR filter.

I thought 60Da and 20Da also did normal colour terrestial photography without any additional filters. They are not the same mod as other DSLRs.

I remember seeing 20Da daytime photos that looked normal. Perhaps a tad warmer than a stock camera but hardly any difference.

You'd best ask Canon or post at the Canon forums at DPReview.

Greg.

Pat,

Bill and Greg are correct!

I have the 60Da and as long as you set the white balance to 'auto' it takes a normal day time picture (and video) without any problems.

All in all..a great camera!

Cheers, Phil

Agreed, the 60Da takes normal tone pics.
This is something I was trying to tell people in the 60Da thread before the model was released, but ofcourse the 'experts' kept saying that it is modded so will need a filter

I have on very rare occasion seen black t-shirts come out with a red tint in photo's tho.

Simon

AFAIK it could be because of what the constituents of what the dye is made from - it reflects certain wavelengths of the visible spectrum that falls into what the 60Da can pick up

Stand corrected if proven wrong!

Hi Bill, yeah that's what I figured, most black dyes are either red or blue based. Was surprised the first time I saw it tho as the 60Da is supposed to still have IR cut, but it's rare enough to not bother me, images come out perfect all other times.
